"Join us for this delightful outing, and in turn, help support children in need," said Lorna Martyn, president of Youth Homes Auxiliary. "How often can you actually help your community while still having fun? Your support of the "Day at the Races" enables the Auxiliary to help provide much needed special support to the children in the Youth Homes program - such as athletic equipment, summer camp fees, a beautiful dress for the prom or school supplies."

"We are so fortunate to have support of the Youth Homes Auxiliary. This group of extraordinary volunteers is instrumental in helping us to add normalcy in the lives of deeply wounded children," said Stuart McCullough, Executive Director of Youth Homes. The organization was founded in Contra Costa in 1964, when a group of concerned citizens responded to articles in the Contra Costa Times and the Oakland Tribune which exposed Juvenile Halls overcrowding with children who could no longer remain in their homes, most often through no fault of their own.
